Mineral and Fossil Fair Brotterode-Trusetal

Information

Details

The collectors’ fair in Brotterode-Trusetal has developed into a popular gathering place for collectors and is now recognized and favored by renowned collectors. This is the 5th fair in Trusetal and the 89th fair organized by the Suhl Geoscientific Society, which has been in continuous operation since 1961 and has members from many towns in western Thuringia. Visitors can marvel at stunning crystals from around the world and fossils up to 250 million years old. On tables spanning about 80 meters, exhibitors from Thuringia, Saxony, Bavaria, and our local collectors present a wide range of items, from starter kits to exclusive display specimens. A special feature of this fair is the selection of large and heavy specimens (sizes up to approx. 80 cm are announced). Thanks to the level access and ample parking, this fair is ideal for showcasing such items.Collectors and enthusiasts can also acquire many local minerals—from Schneekopf spheres to ore minerals from Brotterode-Trusetal and the surrounding area—for their own collections. There will be a wide range of offerings, from affordable items and bargains to high-quality collector’s specimens; this year will also feature exceptional amethyst specimens and ore specimens that are otherwise only available at the absolute top-tier fairs such as Munich or Sainte Marie. Even if you don’t collect, it’s well worth immersing yourself in the colorful, glittering world of minerals or admiring beautiful items adorned with them.

Our caterer, who has served us well at the past four fairs, will once again provide food and drinks. Before or after the event, we recommend visiting the waterfall and the “Hühn” visitor mine. The Klagpfad trail, the Inselberg and its vehicle collection, and the Zwergenpark are other tourist attractions worth seeing before or after the fair.As always, admission is free. The entrance is at ground level, and there is plenty of parking available in the surrounding area. The Trusetal Fair takes place every year on Miners’ Day, the first Sunday in July. There is also a special mineral exhibition in the visitor mine.
