Nepheline on Schorlomite
This is a beautiful specimen from Bou-Agrao Mountain in Morocco, featuring a combination of cream-colored nepheline crystals in good contrast to glossy black schorlomite crystals. The nepheline forms sharp, hexagonal crystals up to 2.5 cm long, while the schorlomite appears as lustrous dodecahedral crystals reaching 8 mm. Measuring 5.0 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm, this rare piece shows a striking contrast and excellent crystal formation, making it a standout addition for collectors. Although nepheline is a fairly common mineral in silica-undersaturated igneous rocks like nepheline syenites, well-formed crystals of this species—especially crystals of this size—are rarely seen.
