The Gemstone Cutter & Goldsmiths’ Market takes place every year on the first weekend in August in the pedestrian zone of Idar-Oberstein (Oberstein district).
Around 50 exhibitors showcase traditional craftsmanship relating to gemstones and jewelry. They display geodes, minerals, and gemstones, as well as gold and silver jewelry in a wide variety of exquisite designs. The stalls are set up in the lower pedestrian zone around the Marktplatz and the Museumsplatz, as well as along the Hauptstraße. Every quarter of an hour, demonstrations of various crafts are held. This one-of-a-kind market enchants visitors with its variety of treasures, its relaxed atmosphere, and the street theatre taking place alongside it.
To make the visit even more convenient for guests, the organizers have set up a free shuttle service this year between the exhibition grounds and the city center!
