About
The fair at the Trusetal town hall takes place every year on Miners' Day, the first Sunday in July. It is run by the Geowissenschaftlicher Verein Suhl, a club active without interruption since 1961, with members from many towns in western Thuringia. On some 80 meters of tables, exhibitors from Thuringia, Saxony and Bavaria and local collectors show crystals from around the world and fossils up to 250 million years old, from the beginner's box to the display specimen. A specialty of this fair is large and heavy specimens of up to about 80 cm, which the level access and nearby parking make easy to bring in. There are also minerals from the region, from Schneekopf thundereggs to ore minerals from Brotterode-Trusetal and its surroundings, and jewelry made with minerals. The Hühn show mine has a special mineral exhibition, and the Trusetal waterfall is close by. A caterer serves food and drinks.
Free admission; level access, with plenty of parking nearby.
