Terms and Conditions

for subscriptions and print orders at Mineralica

Last updated: October 6, 2026

1. Scope and contracting party

1.1 These terms apply to subscriptions to Mineralica magazine, to digital access, to orders in the print shop, and to your account on mineralica.com.

1.2 Your contracting party is Mineralica, owner: Maximilian Schiller, Klosterholz 5, 94491 Hengersberg, Germany. Postal address: Mineralica, Postfach 86 06 47, 81633 München, Germany. Phone: +49 89 2153 7111. Email: info@mineralica.com.

1.3 A consumer is anyone who enters into a contract for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business, or profession. Where these terms grant a right to consumers only, they say so.

1.4 For subscriptions paid by invoice, for example for libraries, institutes, and clubs, these terms apply unless we agree otherwise.

2. Account

2.1 You need an account to subscribe. You can also order issues as a guest.

2.2 The account is free and works for everything on mineralica.com. You must be of legal age. Your details must be correct. Please keep your email address and your shipping address up to date.

2.3 The account is personal. Keep your password to yourself and do not pass on your access. If you suspect that someone else is using your account, please change the password and write to us.

2.4 You may have your account deleted at any time. Please cancel a running subscription separately (section 5).

2.5 We may suspend an account if it is misused, in particular if access is passed on or content is retrieved by automated means (section 9.3). We will first ask you to stop the misuse, unless the severity of the breach makes this unreasonable for us.

3. Conclusion of the contract

3.1 The offers on our website are binding. The contract is concluded when you click "Subscribe and pay" or "Order and pay" at checkout and we confirm the purchase on the following page. You will also receive a confirmation by email.

3.2 Before you submit your order, you see all details at a glance and can change them.

3.3 We store the text of the contract. You receive it together with these terms and the withdrawal policy in the confirmation email. You can see your subscriptions and orders in your account.

3.4 If you order with a paper order form, the contract is concluded when we confirm the order or deliver the first issue.

3.5 The contract languages are German and English. The language in which you order applies.

4. Subscriptions

4.1 Mineralica Print + Digital: four printed issues a year in the language edition you chose (German or English), sent by mail to your shipping address, plus digital access as described in section 9.

4.2 Mineralica Digital: digital access as described in section 9, without printed issues.

4.3 Mineralica is published four times a year, one issue per calendar quarter. If a publication date moves, we deliver the issue as soon as it has been published. You receive four issues in every subscription year.

4.4 The print subscription starts with the current issue. Digital access starts when you subscribe.

5. Term, renewal, and cancellation

5.1 The subscription runs for one year from the day you subscribe (subscription year).

5.2 It renews for another year each time unless you cancel before the end of the current subscription year.

5.3 You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current subscription year, without a notice period: in your account under "Subscription," on the page "Cancel contracts here," by email, or by letter. We confirm the cancellation and the day on which the subscription ends. Until then you receive everything the subscription includes.

5.4 Before every renewal we remind you by email or letter of the date and of the price of the new subscription year.

5.5 We may cancel the subscription with one month's notice, effective at the end of the subscription year.

5.6 Either party's right to terminate for good cause remains unaffected. For us, good cause exists in particular if a payment that is due remains unpaid for more than 14 days despite a reminder.

5.7 Digital access ends when the subscription ends. The issues delivered remain yours.

6.1 In the print shop you order single printed issues and special editions. Buying single issues does not include digital access.

6.2 We deliver while stocks last. If an issue is no longer available after you have ordered it, we will tell you without delay and refund the price without delay.

6.3 If you pay by direct debit or bank transfer, we ship once payment has been received.

7. Prices and payment

7.1 The prices we show you at checkout before you complete your purchase apply. They are final prices. As a small business under Section 19 of the German VAT Act, we do not charge VAT.

7.2 For subscriptions, shipping is included in the price. For orders in the print shop, we show you the shipping costs at checkout before you complete your purchase.

7.3 We bill in euros if your shipping address is in Europe, otherwise in US dollars. For the digital subscription, the currency depends on your billing address.

7.4 The subscription price is due in advance for the whole subscription year, for the first time when you subscribe and then at every renewal. We collect it using the payment method you have provided.

7.5 We show the available payment methods at checkout. Payments are handled by our payment provider Stripe.

7.6 If a charge fails, we will let you know and try again. You bear the costs of a returned direct debit for which you are responsible, in the amount we actually incurred.

7.7 For deliveries to countries outside the European Union, customs duties, taxes, and fees of the destination country may apply. The recipient bears them.

8. Delivery

8.1 We deliver worldwide by mail to the shipping address you provided.

8.2 For the print subscription, we ship the current issue within 10 days of your subscribing for delivery in Germany, within 16 days to the rest of the European Union, and within 35 days to all other countries. We ship every further issue when it is published, by the end of the calendar quarter at the latest. For orders in the print shop, the delivery time stated at checkout applies.

8.3 If your address changes, please update it in your account in good time or write to us. If an issue is lost because the address provided was incorrect, we will send it again against reimbursement of the shipping costs.

8.4 If an issue does not arrive or arrives damaged, please write to us. We will send a replacement.

9. Digital access

9.1 Digital access covers the articles and issues we make available to subscribers on mineralica.com. You read in your browser, signed in to your account. You need a current browser and an internet connection.

9.2 For the term of the subscription we grant you the non-exclusive, non-transferable right to read the content for your personal use.

9.3 You may not pass on or share your access, reproduce, distribute, or make content publicly available except where the law expressly permits it, or retrieve content by automated means or use it for text and data mining, in particular to train AI models (Section 44b (3) of the German Copyright Act).

9.4 Maintenance work may briefly interrupt access. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

9.5 We continue to develop the digital offering and may change functions and presentation where there is a valid reason, such as technical development, security, or legal requirements. This will not cost you anything, and we will inform you about the change clearly and comprehensibly. If a change impairs your access more than insignificantly, we will announce it in good time beforehand. You may then terminate the contract free of charge within 30 days (Section 327r of the German Civil Code).

9.6 We may change or remove individual articles for legal or editorial reasons.

10. Right of withdrawal

10.1 Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal for subscriptions. The withdrawal policy sets out the details.

10.2 There is no right of withdrawal for the purchase of single issues (Section 312g (2) no. 7 of the German Civil Code).

11. Rights in case of defects

The statutory rights in case of defects apply.

12. Liability

12.1 We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and to the extent we have given a guarantee.

12.2 In the case of a slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual obligation, our liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable when the contract was concluded and is typical for this kind of contract. Essential obligations are those whose fulfillment makes the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely.

12.3 Otherwise we are not liable for slight negligence.

12.4 These rules also apply to the liability of our employees and agents.

13. Changes to price and terms

13.1 We do not change the price of the current subscription year you have already paid for. At the start of a new subscription year we may change the price if our costs for editorial work, production, printing, paper, shipping, or running the digital service have changed, and only to the extent of that change. If these costs fall, we lower the price accordingly.

13.2 We tell you the new price by email or letter at least four weeks before the new subscription year begins, together with the previous price and the day from which the new one applies. You may cancel the subscription until the end of the current subscription year (section 5.3); in that case you do not pay the new price. If you do not cancel, the new price applies from the new subscription year. We point out both specifically in the notice.

13.3 We change these terms for running contracts only with your consent. For new orders, the version published on our website at the time of the order applies.

14. Final provisions

14.1 German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer and have your habitual residence in another country, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of that country remain applicable.

14.2 If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is Deggendorf, Germany.

14.3 We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

14.4 If a provision of these terms is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
