Details

The “Welt der Kristalle” in Dietingen near Rottweil is a fascinating mineral and fossil museum that takes visitors into a world of impressive natural wonders. The museum presents a collection of more than 750 exhibits from over 45 countries on more than 1,300 m² of exhibition space. Highlights include one of the world's largest and most beautiful amethyst druses - over 4 m high and around 100 million years old - and 220 million-year-old tree trunks from the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. There are also numerous fossils on display, including dinosaur skeletons, fossilized fish, ancient crabs and crinoids from various geological eras. What is particularly attractive for children is that many of the objects can also be touched. The experience is complemented by a 20-minute documentary film that provides an insight into the origin and processing of the exhibits. The museum store offers a variety of minerals, fossils, gemstone engravings and pieces of jewelry for sale.
