Mineralica 2025 - 1 (english)
This issue kicks off with a new format: the talented artist Tatiana Falkova and her breathtaking work are presented in an exclusive interview with Mineralica. Tatiana Falkova masterfully captures the beauty of minerals in watercolours and gives us an insight into her creative process as well as her sources of inspiration from nature.
The second article focuses on the fascinating mineral amethyst. Although it is found all over the world, Michael Menzies sheds light on the rare amethysts from granitic pegmatites, which can only be found in a few locations
worldwide. This is because amethyst only forms here under very specific conditions alongside the more common smoky quartz. Michael Menzies describes three of these extraordinary sites in detail.
We continue with an impressive find from the Swiss Alps. The young strahler Johannes Ruef discovered an extraordinary alpine cleft full of smoky quartz gwindels, which are now presented for the first time in Mineralica.
Finally, you can look forward to an detailed article by Johann Zenz on agates from the Mexican province of Chihuahua. After many years of silence on this topic, Johann Zenz sheds light on the current finding conditions in the small mines of Mexico and gives a profound insight into the history of these colourful minerals.
