The Uri Mineral Museum in Seedorf, idyllically situated on the Swiss Path, is considered one of the most extraordinary mineral museums in Switzerland. Housed in the former farm building of the historic moated castle A Pro, which served as a storehouse, bakery and drying house in the 16th century, it impresses not only with its collection but also with its unique architecture. The listed building was carefully restored in 1978/79.
The “Urner Mineralienfreunde” have been looking after the exhibitions for almost 40 years and ensure that the museum is always on the move: The exhibits on display - on loan from radiators and collectors - are renewed every year. Impressive crystals and minerals from the Alpine region are presented in 16 themed display cases. The winding rooms with their deep vaults, irregular floors and rough stone walls create a very special atmosphere.
Another highlight is the DVD room in the basement, where new films about the Strahler experience are constantly being shown.
The museum is ideal for families, school classes, group or company outings - and of course for anyone who is interested in the fascinating world of minerals.
