Dalnegorsk

Dalnegorsk, known until 1972 as Tetyukhe, lies in Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East, near the Sea of Japan. Its skarns carry boron and lead-zinc ores that have been mined for more than a century, and since the 1990s they have been one of the main sources of Russian specimens. Collectors know Dalnegorsk for datolite and danburite from the boron quarry, and for calcite, quartz, galena, sphalerite and ilvaite from the lead-zinc mines, often in large, sharp crystals.
