St. Andreasberg
📍 St Andreasberg Mining District, Lower Saxony, Germany
St. Andreasberg lies in the Upper Harz in Lower Saxony. Silver was mined here from 1521 until 1910. The Samson pit is a museum today, with its man engine, the last of its kind still working.
The silver veins of St. Andreasberg produced classics of the old collections: pyrargyrite, native silver, dyscrasite and native arsenic, together with calcite in many forms, harmotome and apophyllite.
