Analcime
Colorless to white Analcime crystals to 5 mm, in the trapezohedral form typical of the species, scattered across a fine, cream-colored crystal crust on dark basalt. The translucent crystals stand out clearly against the darker patches of matrix. The basalts of Iceland are one of the classic zeolite regions of the world, where Analcime grows in vugs together with Chabazite, Thomsonite, Mesolite and Stilbite. This specimen was collected in 1981 by Dr. Kluge. The exact locality within Iceland was not recorded, but the finder and the year of the find are known, which makes it an older Icelandic find with a documented history. Photo: Matthew Parshchikov
